Jasmine Tea
Also known as Mo Li Hua Cha, Jasmine Pearls
Tea scented with fresh jasmine blossoms. Tea and flowers are layered together as the blossoms open in the evening, so the leaves take on their fragrance; for top grades this is repeated six or seven times. The base is usually green tea, sometimes white tea or oolong.
Taste
Floral and fragrant over a light green tea
How we brew it
80 °C, 3 g per 200 ml, 2–3 minutes.
Our personal recommendation – adjust it to your taste.
Cultural background
Fuzhou in Fujian is regarded as the birthplace of the scenting method. Its farmers grow tea and jasmine on different levels of the same hills, each in its own microclimate. In 2014 the FAO recognised this system as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.
